Bernard Besserglik The Hollywood Reporter 11/09/2016
Mihaileanu's direction is uneven and it's tempting to speculate on what a filmmaker less intensely preoccupied with Jewish themes - such as Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron, who was initially slated to helm - might have made of it. Go to Full Review

A literary game that drowns between subplays and emotional climaxes chained together while quoting Nicanor Parra. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

11/26/2017 A brilliant book lost in caricature and 'over the top' Jewish accents and remarkably poor acting from Jacobi and Gould. See more 11/20/2016 Nicole Krauss' book is a poetic masterpiece, and, you would think, impossible to translate to the screen given its complicated structure. I really thought I'd be disappointed, as in so many other movie adaptations. This is the exception to the rule. The director did a marvellous job to bring the story, poetry, and emotions alive without getting the spectator confused. This film is a jewel in today's cinema world. Pure pleasure to watch!
