Otis Ferguson The New Republic I liked Menjou, doing more than his usual bit, but owing to what may be an alarming atrophy of the maternal instinct I like cute toddlers like Shirley Temple only in their little cribs, or whatever receptacle it is they should be kept in. Jan 22, 2024 Full Review Mordaunt Hall New York Times This picture is a delight in many respects, for it has been produced so pleasingly and with such efficient portrayals that only a dyed-in-the-wool cynic could fail to be affected by its sterling humor and pathos. Apr 16, 2020 Full Review Epes W. Sargent Variety This picture is a good response to that element which claims there is nothing good In pictures. Clean, funny, with thrills and heart appeal all nicely blended. Apr 16, 2020 Full Review Helen Brown Norden Vanity Fair No matter how you may think you feel about child actors, the Temple infant will get you. Jun 7, 2019 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide This is the sort of yarn that Runyon told well and often: hard-hearted wise guys melting when they have to put aside tough talk and show their true emotions. It'll have you showing your emotions, too. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 7, 2011 Full Review Ken Hanke Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) It would be a mistake to think of the film as a Shirley Temple vehicle, since it owes as much or more to Adolphe Menjou, the tragic Dorothy Dell and Damon Runyon's chracters. StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 20 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review Steve D I am not sure it ever figures out what it wants to be. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The best comedy movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A fun little character piece as a bunch of less-than-honest types end up having to care for a little girl. While it's a Shirley Temple film, and she's fun to watch, the main story is watching how everyone around her starts to change. Well worth a look. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review bill k If you want to see a child actress of four-five years old at her extremely most talented - skim through this one and you'll be amazed! She was a major talent and unparalled at what she accomplished in the world of cinema at that juncture. A big wow. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/04/15 Full Review Audience Member Not a bad little film...Miss Shirley Temple was very cute in one of her first starring roles. Worthy of a watch.
