Especially would it be a shame to tattle on a film where suspense has been so admirably sustained by adept direction; a film that boasts a star of such magnitude and luster; a film with so splendid a supporting cast! Go to Full Review

Lon Chaney and Tod Browning are to be congratulated on the excellent picture... London After Midnight is conceded to be their best since The Unholy Three. Go to Full Review

12/11/2021 This is one of the most sought after lost films of the silent era. This was the most commercially successful collaborative film between Chaney and Browning. The storyline is somewhat incoherent and nonsensical. It is a story certain to disturb for its time. Therefore, this is very difficult if not impossible to score impartially. Having viewed this piecemeal version, I understood the story and again can only imagine the delivery from a master such as Lon Chaney. See more 10/26/2015 Since a studio fire in 1967, all that remains of this 1927 silent film is a restored still-frame version - it is like a tantalizing glimpse into what could have been a great film... Still, it is remarkably good and boasts the rich masquerading talents of Lon Chaney. A clever twist on the vampire tale, with Chaney's makeup the real star. See more Read all reviews
