Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar's original feature film "Luca" is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca (voice of Jacob Tremblay) shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto (voice of Jack Dylan Grazer), but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water's surface.

Audience Says

It isn't as creative as Pixar's best movies, but Luca lives up to the studio's standards for beautiful animation while telling a sweet fish-out-of-water story the whole family will enjoy.

Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's full of energy and the diligence of those researchers has paid off in its settings which are seductive -- and even more important -- believable. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 30, 2021 Full Review Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Luca is a sweet, gentle, sun-kissed film, with gentle rhythms and a generous spirit. Rated: 3/4 Jun 25, 2021 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review This movie takes joy in the everyday things...wonderful moments. Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Francesca Steele iNews.co.uk All the action, all the emotion, is in Portorosso. Rated: 3/5 Dec 10, 2024 Full Review Denise Pieniazek Puesta en Escena (AR) In Portorosso its inhabitants are against what they call sea monsters. Conversely, the creatures that live under the sea call humans monsters above. So, that world is divided in two microcosms that show that everything depends on the point of view. Rated: 8.5/10 Aug 16, 2024 Full Review Gautam Sunder The Hindu Director Enrico Casarosa and his team do a magnificent job of bringing small-town Italy to life, interspersed with a coming-of-age fantasy saga. Marc M I loved the story, the characters, the look, the music and the cool references to Italian cinema in the 50s in "Luca". You don't have to be Italian to love this movie but it doesn't hurt! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/21 Full Review MP Great movie, me and my 6 year old had a great time! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/21 Full Review PepeWicho N Una historia muy conmovedora de la aceptación y el rechazo que tiene la sociedad, con una animación que me gusta demasiado. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Lucas F i watched this with my younger siblings - and i got to say, my siblings loved this movie. me being the oldest, i enjoyed it fair enough. it’s not perfect, but a fun movie with amazing visuals. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/25 Full Review Joey G This was a solid movie. I enjoyed it, and recommend it if you love Pixar. Also this was just a good and funny movie. It was so light harded, and this shows that not all movies have to have super high stakes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review Arianna B A wonderful and joyful movie that warms everyone's hearts. The protagonists are kids, curious, different, trying to bite life in different ways and having different backgrounds. The movie is full of light and colors and in a very delicate and passionate way, nail the Italian setting and the kids hunger for growing up. The fantastic aspects are part of the movie in the same palette of colors that gives life to the story. The characters are round and evolve through the movie, without being too trivial. In their evolution they give energy to the person watching the movie and infuse a sense of braveness and friendship that, for how typical it can be for these kind of movies, it melts in the scenario with a delicate touch, without resulting too boring and expected.
