A melodramatic thriller which did surprisingly well in the US given its implausible straight-to-video scenario. Undistinguished. Go to Full Review

The only thing that makes this ludicrous botch even borderline watchable is Alec Baldwin's enjoyably supercilious performance as a leering stud surgeon who thinks nothing of belting back shots of bourbon before going in to perform an operation. Go to Full Review

In its efforts to be unpredictable, the film instead becomes unbelievable. Go to Full Review

Malice is a film that very much wants to be a combination of Body Heat and classic Hitchcock -- but how you take to it will depend on your patience with silly cliches and plot holes large enough to hide dinosaurs. Go to Full Review

Black Snake P Oct 20 I've been looking for this little gem for sometime. This truly is slow simmering, twist and turn film making. I remember when I first watched as a young man looking to get into screen writing, this inspired me. And Baldwin and his 'God-complex' diatribe.......pure Hollywood gold. It's predictable in some places, hey, they even threw in a serial killer for atmosphere, but this is a wonderful film. See more nick s Sep 9 The writing seemed to be all over the place, as if the authors weren't sure what sort of movie they were making. It wasn't a terrible production but I didn't find myself drawn into it because of that. Dropped out halfway through. From reading other reviews it doesn't sound like it got any better. See more Kate B Jul 10 I don't really understand all the negative reviews, as I like this movie very much and watch it every few years. The plot twists are great and so are the performances. My guess is people find the set up implausible but I tend to overlook that because of the malevolence and evil that Kidman and Baldwin display is so chilling.
