Suburban Boston professional couple Andy (Bill Pullman) and Tracy (Nicole Kidman) become entangled with cocky trauma surgeon Dr. Jed Hill (Alec Baldwin), an old classmate of Andy's whom they invite to become their tenant in the large Victorian home they're renovating. These kinds of thrillers require a tolerance for red herrings and twists that get progressively more ludicrous as they go on but at about the halfway point this movie takes a series of hard left turns so crazy you almost admire it.

Surprised at the low score, this is a solid 90's thriller. Kidman is best when playing a villain. Plot holes require suspension of disbelief but well acted all around.

Bill Pullman excels in a classy thriller. If that weren't enough.. there's Brenda Strong and Bebe Neuwirth.. in the same film. Also Gwyneth Paltrow briefly appears. Also also Peter Gallagher is gorgeous. Tobin Bell is also present. The ending you must see.
