Audience Member Interestingly, I'm the first to review this film. I have a feeling that it was so bad that very few copies were every actually made. And Sally Field was lucky that most people didn't see this disaster or she surely wouldn't have had much of an acting career. At first, you think it's going to be fun to see a young Sally Field portray a runaway in the 60s. Very very quickly you realize that this will not be enjoyable. The first 20 minutes or so of the film has no actual dialogue. Instead, we hear one side of a phone conversation that doesn't actually match what's going on on screen. Then it transitions to a really horrible, really long song that was written for the film. I think the moral of this made-for-tv movie is don't do drugs, which is ironic because you would have to be on drugs in the first place to make much sense of it. It has a totally creepy vibe and the characters are so stereotypical that it is laughable. Never ever watch this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member In the tradition of films like Go Ask Alice this is another very odd social issue movie. David Carradine as her hippie/anarchist boyfriend is fantastic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Sally Field screams a lot in this. Despite that, I found it passably entertaining. (There are worse things to spend your dollar on next time you're at your local dollar store.) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Throughout the entire film I kept thinking how seventies the clothes and interior decorating looked. It's not a negative thing but for some reason it was a little annoying to me; like the brady bunch or something. The acting wasn't that great but I was interested in the story and the people's, at the time of making the the film, viewpoint of the hippie craze. Very educational but not really a entertaining enjoyable film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member What makes this movie work is it's believable, and Sally Field is very convincing. When it was made it really hit the mark. Wonderful performances, poignant, perceptive direction and very well written. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful movie about a girl named Dennie (Sally Field) who lives with a bunch of hippies for a year and then returns home to her conservative parents. But her little sister, Susan, wants to follow in her footsteps and feel the freedoms her sister felt. Ultimately, this movie was great at giving the audience little glimpses into her hippie lifestyle by jumping back and forth through scenes. Sally Field did a good job playing her character and made it all pretty believable. This was definitely an enjoyable and worthwhile movie. Even though there's not all these different things going on, it still makes for an interesting look inside a family that doesn't quite see eye-to-eye.
