Kimberly Pierce Ticklish Business All in all, Michael Shayne: Private Detective is a fun and easy watch. However, while theres a definite sprinkle of the hard-boiled private eyes so popular in film noir, this movie is far more at home among the literary detective franchises of the 1930s. Audience Member Breezy mystery made all the better by Lloyd Nolan and a game Elizabeth Patterson. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This is just one of 4 movies in a Michael Shayne collection. Glad I came across this one, very enjoyable, a smart witted and comical detective who is out to solve any crime. Worth 5 stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A good start to the Michael Shayne series. Lloyd Nolan is hilarious, yet also a tough private detective. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Move over Phillip Marlowe- It's the original wisecracking PI Mike Shayne! He out thinks and out wits gangsters and the law in this amusing parody of detective films. It is years ahead of its Time! the dialogue and characters are definately a satire of past film noir movies- and it still shines with a freshness after all these years. A good movie for the family. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member An extremely fun little hard-boiled pulp film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Very enjoyable mystery comedy, the cast is a pleasure to watch. It?s fun, light and enormously entertaining.
