Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The movie is a surrealist dreamscape in the form of a Hollywood film noir, and the less sense it makes, the more we can't stop watching it... This is a movie to surrender yourself to. Rated: 4/4 Jul 11, 2023 Full Review Gene Seymour Newsday More than any Lynch movie since Eraserhead, this noir-ish Hollywood saga has the shadowy texture and pliant foundation of a dream. Or a nightmare. Or both. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 11, 2023 Full Review Kirk Honeycutt Hollywood Reporter Few will be able to resist its heady sense of intrigue and two riveting lead performances by Naomi Watts and Laura Elena Harring. Jul 11, 2023 Full Review Fico Cangiano CineXpress Podcast David Lynch's masterpiece. A surreal neo-noir that explores the dark corners of the mind and heart, as well as the Hollywood dream. A film that gets better with each viewing. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/5 Aug 31, 2023 Full Review Jordan Brooks Vague Visages Just as with life, Mulholland Dr. is unexplainable. Aug 1, 2023 Full Review B. Ruby Rich The Nation If, in the end, Mulholland Drive is too clever by half, no matter. Lynch's superb command of mise en scène makes his images and situations their own reward, rendering even the simplest gesture creepy and imbuing any innocence with evil. Jeremy This movie is throat goated Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review David S What the heck did I even watch? That’s beside the point. I absolutely adored this movie. The themes of this movie really resonate with me because the theme of this movie reflects the same belief I have about Hollywood, where people’s dreams, talent, and creativity are often destroyed by a system driven by profit. That’s my biggest gripe with Hollywood is that it prioritizes profit over artistic integrity. The focus is often on the money rather than allowing filmmakers the creative freedom to shape their vision and direction. That’s why the movie’s theme connected with me and a huge reason why I love this film. Beyond just the theme, there are many other things that make this film so great. The story is mind-bending, complex, and brilliant. The writing is great and really helps everything come together. The performances were great, especially from Billy Ray Cyrus, Naomi Watts, Laura Harring, and Justin Theroux. This movie feels very dreamlike, which is a main characteristic of David Lynch’s films. It’s confusing, but the mystery keeps you hooked. David Lynch leaves a lot open to your own interpretation. It doesn’t really tell a very cohesive story, but it presents concepts that allow you to make your own conclusions, which I think is super artistic and cool. It’s hard to put into words why I love this movie so much, but I really do. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Isa B Mulholland Dr. may very well be the greatest film of the 21st century thus far. It is a mastercraft of filmmaking. David Lynch has quite the filmography, and this one is most definitely his finest work. It is dreamlike, intriguing, always entertaining and possesses immense replay value. I love this motion picture! It is among my absolute favorites. I highly recommend you watch this film immediately. 100/100 🏆 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Oscar J Just wow, David Lynch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review beatriz m Filme lindo no quesito fotografia, porém é inegável a confusão que o David Linch deixa ao longo do filme, Desperdiçando a atuação incrível da Naomi Watts, enquanto o espectador gasta cada neurônio do cérebro para tentar entender essa bagunça. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review Yash B "Mulholland Drive" is undeniably a fascinating puzzle to watch. I usually don't seek out films like this since they can be overwhelming and complex, but I will say I liked this one more than a lot of the others of its kind. The movie has a good mix of things that are straightforward but also plenty that leave nothing but room for interpretation. This movie does make me want to explore more of David Lynch's work as it is really something that leaves an impact. I feel like it grew on me the more I thought about it and it is definitely the type of movie I want to see others' interpretations of. I do feel the pacing is a bit on the slower side, but I also feel there is a consistent intrigue as nothing that happens feels expected or natural the whole way through. Overall, it is a film I like that left an impact, and while it isn't necessarily the type of thing I usually go for, it is hard to ignore how much I admire something as ambitious as this mysterious and complex film.
