After a deadly earthquake destroys his home in Peruvian rainforest, a young bear (Ben Whishaw) makes his way to England in search of a new home. The bear, dubbed "Paddington" for the london train station, finds shelter with the family of Henry (Hugh Bonneville) and Mary Brown (Sally Hawkins). Although Paddington's amazement at urban living soon endears him to the Browns, someone else has her eye on him: Taxidermist Millicent Clyde (Nicole Kidman) has designs on the rare bear and his hide.

Ashley N Excellent movie. Very tight. Everything works. A sweet/cute story that has depth. Great cinematography and score. Definitely not just for kids. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Josh D Paddington is way more entertaining than it should be. When the movie first came out, I had no interest in seeing it. In the years since its release, I’ve been hearing nonstop good things and now I see why. Is it a perfect movie? No. The CGI isn’t great (but it’s not bad either, consistently solid) and some of the dialogue falls flat. But the dialogue that doesn’t fall flat hits hard. This movie is so charming and fun. The humor in it consistently hits, the soundtrack really fits the tone of the movie, and all of the actors do a great job in their roles. One of my favorite things about this movie is how seriously yet casually everyone takes it. A bear walking around and speaking is clearly established as an abnormal thing, but nobody questions it or pokes fun at it. He’s just a bear who can speak, and that’s that. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review matthias s **Review: Paddington (3.5/5)** Rewatching *Paddington* feels like wrapping yourself in a warm, fuzzy blanket on a rainy day. The CGI still dazzles—Paddington himself is a marvel, seamlessly blending into the delightful chaos around him. Paul King’s direction is full of charm, and Hugh Bonneville shines (as always) with that familiar *Downton Abbey* wit. The film is incredibly funny and so much more than a “family movie.” The stacked cast, from Sally Hawkins to Nicole Kidman, brings everyone’s A-game, elevating the story with heart and humor. Yes, the plot is predictable, but it’s executed with such care and joy that I didn’t mind one bit. I couldn’t stop smiling at Paddington’s earnestness and the Browns’ lovable quirks. It’s heartwarming in all the right ways, like a jar of marmalade shared on a sunny afternoon. What a treat! Now, onto *Paddington 2*—bring on more bear brilliance! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Pablo Eduardo M Not only it is an entertaining movie it is also sweet and visually captivating. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review Audience Member It’s 10 years old and still works I was so worried this was gonna be a disaster but I’m happy it was a decent kids film considering it came out in January I didn’t know it was based on a children’s book from Britain back in 1958 In darkest Peru an English explorer visited and befriended 3 bears who could talk Years later the young cubs uncle dies in an earthquake but his aunt manages to help him aboard a ship all the way to London He arrives and is found by a family called the Browns They name the bear Paddington and help him locate the information of the explorer All the while a woman named Millicent Clyde is after the bear to add him to her taxidermy collection Paddington ends up causing trouble but the Browns become quite attached to him The film is colorful, very imaginative when it comes to it particular reality like the sets and the props, and Ben Whinshaw gives a truly heartwarming performance as this furry animal Nicole Kidman does a pretty solid job playing this spy-esque villain The movie has a good amount of charm for kids and their parents It is adorable and the acting and directing seem to be very dedicated The charming characters are welcoming and enjoyable It was very short too which was surprising But thankfully the film is solid entertainment for all ages using great visual storytelling staying true to the source material Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/25 Full Review Eye C To recover faith in humanity Paddington is the way. What a lovely movie, didn’t rewatched in a long time and still holds it as the first time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/25 Full Review Read all reviews
