Con man Click Wiley (Pat O'Brien) and his girlfriend Gladys (Mary Astor) submit a composite picture to a Hollywood beauty contest and win the prize. Dubbing their make-believe starlet Dawn Glory, they successfully keep her a mystery. When they're forced to provide a radio voice for Dawn, Gladys convinces hotel maid Loretta (Marion Davies) to help.
