Meyer Levin (Patterson Murphy) Esquire Magazine About ten percent of Roman Scandals is one hundred per cent entertainment. But the show on the whole is slow. May 5, 2020 Full Review Helen Brown Norden Vanity Fair Cantor's last film, The Kid from Spain, netted him a personal stipend of $260,000. Roman Scandals will probably make more for him, as it is brighter, gayer, livelier. Audience Member This very funny spoof on Roman era epics is considered to be Eddie Cantor's best film. The modern man dreaming himself in another era plotine is a favorite comedy theme and an idea dating back to Mark Twain's, " A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." The film has a great lineup of writers many who worked on the Marx Brothers. Alongside the humor are musical sequences which were commonplace at the time. The highlight is the chariot chase at climax. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member The best comedy movie ever made!
