Anupama Chopra Hindustan Times Rowdy Rathore beats you to a pulp, cinematically. It's a relentless assault that kicks in as soon as the credit titles roll. Rated: 1/5 Apr 22, 2015 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Big, dumb and pretty good fun once the flat first hour is over, Bollywood masala Rowdy Rathore makes the grade on the strength of Akshay Kumar's charismatic dual perfs as a supercop killed on duty and a lookalike thief who takes his place. Apr 22, 2015 Full Review Namrata Joshi Outlook Predictably, Rowdy goes about setting things straight. But he takes way too long, making the film stretch on like a tasteless wad of chewing gum. Rated: 2/4 Apr 22, 2015 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy Rowdy Rathore wastes nearly an hour setting up plot points that should have taken no more than fifteen minutes, and the film suffers for it. Nov 6, 2017 Full Review Srijana Mitra Das The Times of India The film's an unabashed, gunpowder-hot, sambar-spiced star-vehicle which runs along energetically most of the time because [of] its star Akshay Kumar. Rated: 3/5 Apr 22, 2015 Full Review Peter Galvin sbs.com.au The very funny and charming Sonakshi Sinha, by the way, plays Shiva's romantic interest. But the love story seems much less important than the mayhem. Rated: 3/5 Apr 22, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Taseer A Rowdy Rathore is a masala entertainer that delivers exactly what it promises—high-octane action, over-the-top drama, and Akshay Kumar in full-on larger-than-life mode. Akshay Kumar shines in his dual role as Shiva, a lovable thief, and Vikram Rathore, a fearless cop. His comedic timing in the first half and his intense action-packed avatar in the second half cater to fans of his versatility. Sonakshi Sinha brings charm as the leading lady, though her role is limited to being the love interest and adding to the film's visual appeal. The film excels in its action sequences and colourful song-and-dance numbers, with tracks like "Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita" leaving a lasting impression. The vibrant cinematography and Prabhu Deva's signature flair for dramatic moments enhance the viewing experience. However, the storyline is predictable, and the exaggerated sequences can feel dated by today’s standards. While Rowdy Rathore may not hold the same appeal in hindsight, it remains an enjoyable throwback to an era of Bollywood where masala films ruled the box office. If you loved it at the time, it’s easy to appreciate its nostalgic value and the sheer fun it brought to audiences. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Lejla C Life changing. Akshay Kumar in the Rowdy avatar felt like a fresh change and the 'masala' was just enough to keep me entertained. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Ahmed M The only reason this movie is so what good, is because of the average story.
