Audience Member This movie is so consistently bad that it's ideal for viewing and commenting in a hotel bed with your (for consistency's sake) much younger lover. The acting is mechanic, grotesque, and entirely unconvincing. There are some (now probably illegal) nude scenes with Kinski that lighten the viewer's burden, and Mastroianni's character has one good line, addressing the girl: ‘You deserve a good spanking!' Unfortunately, but consistently, he doesn't follow through. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Belissimo filme, Belissima Natasha Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Mastroianni, but this was truly one of the worst films I have ever seen. The direction and acting are somewhere between 70s softcore porn flick and a daytime soap opera. The plot is completely contrived and its two main pillars-the love story and the question of Francesca's origins- seem to exist only because each lacked the substance to carry the film on its own. Yes, Kinski is beautiful and previous cinematic experiences will invest Marcello with a dynamism that his actual performance is lacking, but there is nothing of substance to be had here. The film imparts no insight on the tension between erotic infatuation and potential incest. It has nothing beyond the banal to communicate about intergenerational romance. When compared to films that explore similar themes like Eric Rohmer's Le Genou de Claire, Stay As You Are feels like a parody of an art film...and perhaps even that is too much praise. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review andrey k Very erotic and sensuous movie. Kinski is a goddess, you just can't get your eyes off her. The film exploits her beauty at 100%. And Mastroianni is the brain of this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
