      What to know

      Critics Consensus

Its script doesn't quite carry the dramatic heft of his earlier work, but Park Chan-wook's Stoker showcases his eye for sumptuous imagery and his affection for dark, atmospheric narratives populated by mysterious characters. Read critic reviews

Watch and wait. Signature Park Chan-Wook in superb camera angling, movement and set up of shots, the actors being more of a vehicle for the film than anything individual. Spookier than his previous pieces.

One of the most exquisitely directed films of 2013.

This is a very carefully planned out story with a subtle slow tone that will either drive you mad or intrigue you. I went to watch this movie without having seen any movie trailers or promo and it really helped. Overall it's a great film, very suspenseful with twists and turns that you might not expect and fantastic acting from all the cast. Congratulations to Wentworth Miller on writing such a great film.

This is the first English language film from Korean Auteur; Park Chan-Wook, whose films I've praised to be among the finest of last decade. If you familiar with his film then its easy to say this Gothic Thriller focuses on themes the director ha explored before. He just loves the bitter and darker side of humanity that intrigues and compels us viewers. 'Stoker' takes an archetypal Hitchcockian like plot into a rich and lavish american setting, stocked up with incredible editing and solid performances from a flawless cast playing such concerning and determined characters. Stoker is also a horror within itself of one character's motivations not exactly being what they appear to be, although it fascinating psychology that just brings humanity's darker side out of the shadows. This I recommend, being and incredibly fine if not superb effort of modern film-making.
