What to Know

Critics Consensus

Mired in its muddled mythology, Terminator: Genisys is a lurching retread that lacks the thematic depth, conceptual intelligence, or visual thrills that launched this once-mighty franchise.

Sarah Marshall Bitch Media This film should be more on-point than ever, since technology has taken over our lives. But rather than actively antagonizing us, technology simply allows us easy ways to indulge in laziness and cruelty. Jan 28, 2021 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast To watch Genisys is to see the franchise become a figurative embodiment of the Terminators themselves: convinced of its own superior vision of the future, it tramples upon the dusty skeletons of the forefathers it's slaughtered to achieve it. Oct 23, 2015 Full Review Emily St. James Vox The Terminator franchise has forgotten what made The Terminator and Terminator 2 so great. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 23, 2015 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson As flashy as it is with tremendous and eye-popping special effects, it has created an extremely convoluted mess of merged timelines and revisionist storytelling that treads all over what made the 1984 original and superior 1991 sequel so great. Pedro Henrique C Terminator Genisys (2015) has a very peculiar and silly flavor, there are some things that are interesting to follow and others that are not. The story of this new chapter in the franchise is quite confusing and difficult to understand. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/07/25 Full Review tim s This entry in the Terminator franchise receives undue criticism. Some of the science mumbo jumbo is stale and doesn't make sense, but Genisys thrills when it wants to. The effects are believable, such as watching a nuke destroy San Francisco. Jai Courtney is quite admirable as Kyle Reese, and J.K. Simmons' subtle comedic turn adds a nice touch of levity. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/06/25 Full Review Dominic I. Not as bad as people say it is but still not very good. The helicopter chase was beyond stupid and I really wish the T-1000 was in it for more than 5 minutes. Interesting idea making John Connor the villain though. But if you know anything about Jason Clarkes movie characters than you could’ve put together the twist right away. I liked Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor a lot in this and I can see the Linda Hamilton likeness in her face. Jai Courtney was mid tho. As a Kyle Reese, he doesn’t even touch how good Michael Biehn or Anton Yelchin were. Overall the film is worth watching but it’s not the best Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review saul s Que desastre de película es tan mala que da risa no vale la pena verla Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/25 Full Review Go B this was way better than what people says in the comments Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
