Kristy Puchko Mashable The feel-good movie of 2025 has arrived. Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com It’s an incredibly funny, genuinely moving character study that’s not explicitly “about” anything but these two lovely people. Mar 14, 2025 Full Review Stephen Saito Variety Duplass is careful to make a film where it’s up to the people involved to make Christmas a special occasion, rather than any relying on the genre’s traditional trappings. In that regard, “The Baltimorons” has something to celebrate. Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Robert Kojder Flickering Myth A hilarious and sweet May/December story, a personal treatise on mental health and fulfillment, and a thoughtful approach to alcoholism while observing what make us happy is sometimes adjacent to self-destructive vices, The Baltimorons is far from moronic Rated: 4/5 May 3, 2025 Full Review Dan Scully ScullyVision What begins as a series of turbulent mishaps soon evolves into a well-motivated May-December romance. It also functions as one of few “Baltimore movies” that isn’t at all about crime. Apr 27, 2025 Full Review Erik Childress Movie Madness Podcast Few films these days have the patience, let alone skill, in blending the outrageous into empathy which Jay Duplass achieves along with Michael Strassner and Liz Larsen carefully molding their characters towards a meaningful friendship and love. Rated: 4/4 Mar 26, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Sam F I saw this on the opening night of the Chicago Critics Film Festival. It was pretty much everything I would have expected from a well-made indie rom-com, and a bit more. I must mention that I am an indie film fan and movies like this are a rare and endangered species, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see it in a theater. Duplass did a good job of keeping things moving from one unexpected Baltimore adventure to the next, and that helped keep it from seeming overly talky and focused on the two leads, who were nearly the whole movie until a third major character entered the picture three-fourths of the way through. A few of the situations seemed a bit implausible in their details, but these passed quickly. The score was perfect, reminding me of the warm, jazzy Christmas-y piano in Whit Stillman's classic movie Metropolitan. The audience in the packed Music Box Theater laughed loudly and often, and I think that says a lot. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
