For the last 10 years, lifelong buddies Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) have gathered on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holidays with a bang. As Isaac prepares to become a first-time father, the friends realize that their annual tradition is coming to a sad end. To make it as memorable as possible, they plan a night of debauchery and hilarity by searching for the Nutcracka Ball, the Holy Grail of Christmas parties in New York.

The night before, a movie we threw on as part of our Christmas week of movies here at home. We had been on a Seth Rogen bender after enjoying the Studio and Platonic and wanted thought we should give this one a try. They don’t really make movies like this much anymore and, in all honesty, I am kind of glad they don’t.

This is an example of the state of comedy movies - a competition to see who can be the most gross. There were some funny parts but I would like to see more sophisticated, clever humor than this. Really not worth paying for.
