Age Staff The Age (Australia) Director Lee Sholem has what amounts to a craze for closing a scene with a meaningless shot. It becomes quite fascinating. Apr 16, 2020 Full Review William Brogdon Variety Plenty of violent gunplay, fast movement and a sensationally-gowned Miss O'Hara provide the excitement in the Leonard Goldstein production, as set up in the script by Polly James and Herb Meadow. Apr 16, 2020 Full Review Michael E. Grost Classic Film and Television Mild Western has good characters and an admirable interest in non-violent solutions to conflict. Apr 16, 2020 Full Review Courier Mail Staff Courier Mail (Australia) This is the old, old story or the cattle baron versus the small settlers. But the film is lifted above the average Western by a new twist. Apr 16, 2020 Full Review Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine Maureen O'Hara's Technicolor décolletage is a good deal more impressive than the fiat old plot that surrounds her. Dec 2, 2019 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide While O'Hara and Bishop shine in an otherwise ordinary Western yarn, Nicol is hopelessly miscast as the heroic sheriff. Jeff S An average Western elevated by Maureen O'Hara and, to a lesser extent, a young Dennis Weaver in a small role a few years before his Gunsmoke fame. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Audience Member Maureen O’Hara did an excellent job in this highly recommend it good movie, James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas, November 15, 2023 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review Audience Member 'The Redhead from Wyoming' qualifies as a thoroughly predictable but nevertheless entertaining, horse opera about a range war between trigger-happy cattlemen and homesteaders in the 1880s, with Maureen O'Hara at her fiery best--This good, old-fashioned western is a treat, especially the big finale in Sweetwater as well as in the saloon with Kate, Averell, and Blaine shooting it out... Touch of red... in glorious Technicolor!! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay western is colorful and Maureen O'Hara is fiery in the lead. It's all pretty average until it tips into the realm of the ridiculous by having Maureen fight a range war in diamonds and a black beaded evening gown! Still not bad of its type. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Maureen O'Hara is the whole sho Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Based on a "real" incident from Wyoming's rustling- cattle range war past the film of course is pure 1950's Hollyood pulp western. OHara does a fine job as the Saloon owner ( in real life the character owned a small free range spread) as does he rest of the cast. Fun to watch once. Too bad Hollywood doesn't remake this with the real story as it would match Eastwood's Unforgiven for a modern die hard western.
