Leslie Felperin Guardian The moral maths seem calculated in advance to ensure a by-numbers outcome, but it’s an absorbing puzzle while it lasts. Rated: 3/5 Nov 25, 2024 Full Review Courtney Howard Variety Not only does it lack a satisfying payoff when it comes to its set-up of intriguing, character-driven action sequences, the narrative’s emotional pull also yields diminishing returns. Oct 11, 2024 Full Review Chris Wasser Sunday Independent (Ireland) Economical and entertaining, this tasty little actioner won’t change the world, but it passes the time nicely. Rated: 3/5 Jan 3, 2025 Full Review Matt Glasby Radio Times Although some later plot developments, and Lynch's dim-wittedness, stretch credulity, the movie offers an intriguing new route through familiar terrain. Rated: 3/5 Nov 13, 2024 Full Review Javier Ocaña Cinemanía (Spain) [Brad Anderson] somewhat sustains the plot with certain creativity in the editing and auditory perceptions of the two protagonists. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 17, 2024 Full Review Lynn Venhaus Webster-Kirkwood Times Reliable action hero Joel Kinnaman manages to evoke sympathy as Frank Shaw, a detective committed to enforcing the law when fellow officers are lured by greed to the dark side...Frank excels as the feisty deaf-since-birth witness . Papi Chulo Its an ok “B” film. Probably shouldve went straight to on demand. I love the fact that they gave an opportunity to an actress whos actually deaf in real life, but considering most theater attendees dont understand sign language, i wish they had translated more of her dialouge. Also, the “mole” reveal didnt feel like a surprise, since that actor is usually typecast as a villain in most of his films Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Veronica S Great Movie! Amazing acting from the leads. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review The H Great idea for a suspense movie, guy has to survive in an apartment building with people after him while not being able to hear, but besides that the story is well written, the dialogue is emotional & deep, amazing movie from start to finish. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/25 Full Review Audience Member Really liked this movie. Good acting, well paced. If you like edge of your seat, low budget style movies, it's a good watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review Rita N Joel Kinnamon & Sandra Mae Frank are fabulous! Watched Sandra in New Amsterdam & loved her character! She’s a talented actress and needs to be utilized more. She’s today’s Marlee Matlin! She brings the needed reality, as she has been deaf since age 3. The “deaf” storyline is not just there, to be there. It’s integral to the story and the acting of Kinnamon & Mae Frank bring it to life. Since I’m a retired teacher who had several deaf students & the sister of a deaf brother, in the class with one of my deaf students, in addition to a full-time interpreter, along the way. The realness of the “one missing piece” hit home with me. The old school action/suspense vibe was made it even more enjoyable. The action was there, but not in your face with gigantic shootouts that take over the plot, like most of today’s movies. The suspense was written in perfectly! My husband and I found ourselves talking to Frank & Ava, giving them directions! We thoroughly enjoyed The Silent Hour! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Jack M Decent little thriller that paves the way for more authentic representation of disabilities in movies without overdoing it. Although the two main characters are have a hearing impairment, they should have seen the plot twist coming a mile away. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Read all reviews
