David Ehrlich indieWire The character is largely sanded down to a toothy smile and a nagging sense that his dad always feels “close and far away at the same time, like even though I’m right there he doesn’t really see me.” He might as well be describing the film itself. Rated: D+ Feb 22, 2025 Full Review Nell Minow RogerEbert.com The movie is a very sincere and good-hearted adaptation, but it loses focus by trying to include too many elements of the real-life story. Rated: 3/4 Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Sheri Linden New York Times The Unbreakable Boy could have benefited from a stronger infusion of Austin’s vitality. Feb 20, 2025 Full Review Sandie Angulo Chen Common Sense Media This solid faith-based chronicle of a family navigating both disability and alcohol abuse has several things working in its favor. Feb 22, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix There's plenty of melodrama about medical conditions and financial struggles, but there's an over-use of movie clichés that sugarcoat the truth...by presenting a perky boy with autism as if he's some kind of good luck charm used for the family's benefit. Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Rick Bentley KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) The decision to lean more toward Scott’s story that Austin’s doesn’t break the film, but it just leaves a feeling that there could have been a far more emotional impact. Philip The actor who played the autistic kid should get an award for great acting. That won't happen because Hollywood elites are in charge of awards. They suck. But great acting kid! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review Andrew Was split evenly about a broken father and a son. The father is a alcoholic in the movie and the son suffers from easily broken bones. Good movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review Cloudy Wonderful story but left too many unanswered questions in my mind. Want to know more about the real story.
