Unexpectedly sharp, light and appealing; a testament to Hunt's skills behind the camera. Go to Full Review

Everyone acts decently and you have to praise Hunt for her tenacity. But this suffers from some fairly dire cinematography and a manufactured air that prevents the watcher connecting to the whole thing. Go to Full Review

For all its half-hearted attempts to trip expectation, Hunt's adaptation of Elinor Lipman's novel is ultimately a romcom wherein themes of adoption and betrayal come with too much sensitive, careworn soul-searching. Go to Full Review

Quietly sneaks up on you when you least expect it and delivers a powerful emotional punch. Go to Full Review

M @Meadow Oct 19 It wasn't for me. Not a comedy. Strong cast See more Dena B 11/09/2023 Tough situations sets the perfect stage for broken-hearts to get a 2nd chance at love. Well written, directed and delivered. See more Chris M 10/09/2023 This could have been slow but good. But it shows all the funny scenes in the trailer. The pacing is dead slow and I doubt the orphanage would have found parents for her the same day she gets dropped off for her to read the names, let alone commit it to memory enough to remember enough to find it. It was probably just a quick glance. The characters are very likable but the story and pacing just doesn't work for me. Not a complete waste of time, just not for me and I can't recommend it. And again, movies should not be rated-R just because of language. Kid's general don't encounter sex, nudity, graphic violence and I mean graphic violence or hard drugs in their day to day lives. Unless you live in Amish country then kids hear "bad" language probably EVERY day. It's bullshit. See more 07/16/2016 Is it a comedy? I would not know. This is a drama told lightly with some funny moments. Simple, yet engaging. Realistic yet entertaining. Every character in it is likable sans Mathew Broderick('s). I do not know how many directing Helen Hunt did prior to this but she produced a fine work. Recommended. See more 08/05/2015 Nice enough way to spend the evening and a great cast! See more 08/24/2014 great actors, horrible plot. never again See more Read all reviews
