      Thomas and the Magic Railroad

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Kids these days demand cutting edge special effects or at least a clever plot with cute charectors. This movie has neither, having lost in its Americanization what the British original did so right.

Rated: 3/5 Dec 29, 2010 Full Review Lisa Alspector Chicago Reader Scenes with Peter Fonda as a melancholy grandfather -- he couldn't get a cherished engine running in time for his late wife to ride it -- periodically bring the movie screeching to a halt. Luiz Henrique S I Love Thomas And The Magic Railroad, i don't understand why the peoples hate this movie, he deserves more respect and don't deserve the hate it gets, deserves more Love than hate, 🍅21% and 🍿42%? No, the movie deserves way more than this Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Jackson H Man, children can be such a**holes these days demanding stuff to be cut from a movie, Thomas and the Magic Railroad is such a bland, disappointing movie which thank god is not canon to the show. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review qwerty I love this movie. This is the best movie of all time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review Nathan W Mara Wilson stinks in that movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Ryan A This movie is slow and wildly inconsistent in tone. Alec Baldwin's performance is fun, bright and engaging, but that's the only thing about this film that feels like a kids movie. The pacing is slow and inconsistent, dialogue is edited together with awkward pauses hanging between characters, and Peter Fonda's character is morose and haunted beyond what seems appropriate for a kid's film. The movie also seems to switch out which child actor is driving the plot halfway through. Believe me when I say that Thomas the tank engine is barely in it. Two stars because my two year old is mesmerized by it for reasons beyond my comprehension. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/02/23 Full Review Frank R This movie may have flaws BUT Remember this is Thomas' first movie. At the time the movie was being made it was originally gonna be a 2h long movie. The main reason people now say why it's a bad movie is because half of the movies plot was deleted or reworked. Also a human villain named P.T Boomer was completely cut from the movie in which he was also part of the missing plot. But then again this movie is childhood and for Thomas fans.
