The film seems more focused on style than substance, with overused slow-motion scenes, clunky dialogue, and characters that feel like cardboard cutouts of better crime dramas. The pacing is all over the place—some scenes drag on forever while others feel rushed and underdeveloped. The emotional moments don’t land, largely because the script doesn’t give the audience any real reason to care about the characters. Even the soundtrack, which had potential, is shoehorned into scenes without much thought or flow. In short, Trap City wants to be the next big urban crime saga but ends up feeling like a student film with a decent budget and no direction. Skip it.
