Critics Consensus

As disturbing as it is thought-provoking, Welcome to Leith offers an uncomfortable -- and essential -- glimpse into a part of society many Americans would much rather ignore.

Luke Channell Little White Lies Observed, even-keeled and well-researched, Welcome to Leith masterfully employs an array of perspectives and insightful news-clips, forming an urgent story which retains a certain objectivity on the offensive racist at its core. Prince Way Too Indie Welcome to Leith doesn't really delve too deep into some of the topics it brings up, but its transformation of Leith's storyline into a tense, efficient narrative provides plenty of engrossing material. Audience Member It'd be unbelievable if it wasn't true events Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/19 Full Review Audience Member Not perfect, i have a problem with the structure and some overdramatisation, but a good study of the culture, and people of white supremacy. Just don't expect a "real life thriller". Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Welcome to Leith is an excellent window into a part of the world that should be dead and gone. The number of times the swastika is shown here was far more than could ever be expected, and each time it managed to jumpstart the amygdala. The fact that a photographer had decided to film professional footage of the event as it was going on does a great aid to the documentary, as does the devastating recording of the two men with guns. It ends bleaker than it started, which is a very hard thing to do given the substance matter. The topic also lends itself perfectly to creative imagery, from the incredibly disturbing 'welcoming' sign to the symmetrical white house Craig Cobb called home. The only glaring issue is how, mainly due to the intense 'real footage' sequences, the interviews appear boring and slightly unnecessary. Other than that minor issue, it was an incredibly well-made documentary, that anyone with a passing interest on American politcs should watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Very scary documentary with white supremacist Craig Cobb buying up land parcels in Leith, North Dakota to try to take over the town. It's almost like a horror film, with the townpeople almost hysterically afraid of Cobb, Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member gosh; it just BLOWS my mind that there are people out there that truly do think they're better than another person, another race, another whathaveyou. it's 2017. why is this a thing? Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Eh, I found the movie to be very anticlimactic. Nothing really impacting happened throughout, except for the beginning when the white supremacist first moved to the down and caused a ruckus. At least the documentary proves that there are evil people still out there. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
