"American Horror Story" was created by the co-creators of "Glee," but the shows have little in common besides that. The show revolves around the Harmons, a family of three, who move from Boston to Los Angeles in order to reconcile past anguish. What the Harmons don't know is that the house they've moved into is haunted. But it's not haunted by Casperesque friendly ghosts -- it's haunted by demonic creatures. The creatures have a history of not only spooking the house's residents but also devouring them. After living in this house, family patriarch and psychiatrist, Ben, may need a shrink of his own.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

American Horror Story reins in its Grand Guignol excess for a softer touch in Delicate, refreshing the series' formula with a slow-burn chiller about the anxieties of pregnancy.

Lili Loofbourow Washington Post If this storyline ends up being about female friendship, it's a bizarre one, stripped of the usual intimacies. Oct 4, 2023 Full Review Benjamin Lee Guardian Pregnancy is not exactly an untapped experience within the horror genre, if anything it might be a little overtapped... but it gives a show obsessed with extravagant iconography a full playground at its disposal. Rated: 3/5 Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter If the best premieres sink their claws into a viewer, Delicate manages only a light scratch — sharp enough to leave an impression, but not to hook someone in. Sep 21, 2023 Full Review Álvaro Onieva Fotogramas The absence of Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe - the three performers who have appeared the most in the franchise and who jumped ship in "Double Feature' - is noticeable, but the presence of Emma Roberts compensates. [Full review in Spanish] Dec 27, 2023 Full Review John Paul King Washington Blade No matter how it plays out, the show is sure to strike a chord with all the loyal “AHF” fans, and those who are less devoted will probably still find much to keep them interested in the series’ signature gruesome-but-elegant aesthetic, no matter what. Oct 12, 2023 Full Review EJ Moreno EJ Moreno Scaling back the insanity for a simple, clean story will do wonders for Delicate. It's posh, creepy, and a needed shot in the arm for AHS. Rhea D Okay, so Special effects get 4/5. There were some areas where they focused so much on the gore that it felt like a crutch. The artistic aspects of the direction, I can support, like the angles and lighting, that was good. That ending was confusing af. I can appreciate the "obscurity, fearing the unknown, the dark, the mysterious" aspects of this, but there comes a time where you need to give something concrete or else the entire thing feels pointless. That was what happened here. I feel like if you're going to go with an obscure ending, you need to give some bit of solidity. Example, in the very first season, they were able to keep a mysterious ending while still giving a little closure. That was not done here in my opinion. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Martin F Very disappointed by this season, I thought that with a story based on a novel and with someone co-directing it with Ryan, this would be the opportunity for the series to evolve from his usual flaws... not only Delicate doesn't feel different from any other season but it may be the worst I've seen. I love the concept of Rosemary's baby withing the elite of Manatthan, I'm a sucker for any horror content that mix high society and art in it. That said, Delicate does what American Horror Story always does introducing way too many things from the let go and then just go in all direction missing any coherent conclusion to any storylines. One big mystery was revealed with a long explanation without even giving the chance to the character to investigate, the series itself ends in the move expeditive way without explanation or maybe logic. I have nothing against Kim Kardashian here she did a respectable job, I actually liked her character until the last episode. That said, isn't Cara Deleving supposed to be a trained actress? She was awful playing a villain.Same thing for Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, her and Cara were obnoxious in their role avoiding any subtility in their acting. I hated the scene replaying the real life Rose Mary's Baby shooting. Useless and bad taste to associate real life people like Sharon Tate and Mia Farrow with satanism and this awful season. Especially for what happened because of this shooting in real life! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review Audience Member The worst season ahs has ever had although nyc was winning that spot till delicate showed up. The whole season was just boring paranoid garbage and then one episode is about 10 mins of her eating. Wow pregnant woman have cravings let’s sit and watch and wait for nothing to happen. Just aweful. By the way I’m not against the acting it was the horrible script. Geez rosemary’s baby rip off much. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Alicia T Worst season ever. Was not worth the wait. It was so awful. I’m sorry. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Olena R I loved every episode until the last one. There was little to no explanation of how they were able to kill Her. Why would the spell work that time? It was shown many times before but seemed like it never worked, what was so different in the end? And then, how did the blonde twin sister resurrect?? Didn't they kill her? It got so downhill in the last episode that even though I really liked all previous episodes, it made it un-recommendable.
