It's the early 1980s, and the spirit of innovation in personal computing is about to catch fire. Hot on the trail is a renegade trio -- a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy -- who risk everything to realize their vision of building a computer that can change the future. Not long after IBM corners the market with its flagship PC, a flaw is discovered in its operation, opening the door for competition. In steps Joe MacMillan, a former IBM executive who now works for Cardiff Electric. MacMillan plans to reverse-engineer IBM's technology, putting Cardiff in the thick of the personal computer race. He enlists the help of engineer Gordon Clark, who dreams of creating a revolutionary computer, and Cameron Howe, a volatile prodigy who puts her future on the line to join MacMillan's rogue project.

Doreen St. Felix The New Yorker The humanity of its final season is stunning. May 9, 2020 Full Review Chancellor Agard Entertainment Weekly Beautiful. That's the only way to describe the two-hour finale of Halt and Catch Fire. Well, also satisfying. That's another word for it! Rated: A Dec 29, 2017 Full Review Sean T. Collins Decider Halt and Catch Fires is one of the best shows of all time. Dec 14, 2017 Full Review Natalia Marcos El Pais (Spain) There is gold in this series, one of the best of recent times and many people will not even know that it exists. [Full Review in Spanish] Jul 9, 2018 Full Review Michael Roffman Consequence Hell, this show is a testament to that kind of determination, an unlikely underdog that kept barking to keep the lights on, and wound up succeeding. No matter how this whole thing ends, it's already won. Feb 14, 2018 Full Review Laura Bradley Vanity Fair This drama has certainly grown a lot-but now, with the pieces all in place, it seems fair to say that it was also brilliant from the start. Brian Y must watch.. phenomenal acting!!! Obsessed with every season of this show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review Maggie A Halt and Catch Fire is the most enthralling programme I've seen in a very long time. So gripped, I've watched the 4 series in 4 sittings, and spent a considerable amount of time in tears through the final series. Most if not all the characters are multilayered, highly believable personalities, whose lives feel real right from the start. The fictional tech companies aren't just coat hangers to drape the characters over but also feel like they could have been fighting for position. Scoot McNairy, Lee Pace and Toby Huss particularly stand out for me. I don't know why I didn't get on with the women quite so well (annoying as I am a woman). Nonetheless, I entirely recommend this if you enjoy intelligent, well-crafted TV. I shall miss it and the characters. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/11/23 Full Review Markus K Touching, compelling and inspiring character drama that might lose to Mad Men in glory and glamour, but well makes it up in approachability, realism and warmth. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/23 Full Review Aileen O A satisfying end to the series. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/22 Full Review Audience Member Really superb writing and acting...these characters really lived and left a mark...the writers and production masterfully captured the atmosphere of the early 90's... Left me wanting more in a good way... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review tom m 4 seasons. I enjoyed it. It started a bit slow, but the characters and their stories pulled me in. The adjacency of their stories to my own (in tech at that time) was also engaging. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
