Birthday: Apr 1, 1987

Birthplace: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

A native of Vancouver, actress Mackenzie Davis faced the trials of navigating Hollywood as a feminist with a degree in gender studies almost more challenging than her acting roles. Davis burst onto the scene in "Smashed" (2012), starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul, about an alcoholic woman's attempts to get her life back on track. The film premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival to excellent reviews. Following "Smashed," Davis was cast in "Breathe In" (2013), starring Guy Pearce and Amy Ryan. Davis said that she was so nervous during her first run-through with Pearce and Ryan, her on-screen parents, that she threw up throughout rehearsal. After getting over the jitters and nailing her performance, Davis went on to star in the Irish-Canadian romantic comedy "The F Word" (2013) alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan. Davis' performance earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. Davis followed "The F Word" with another appearance in a romantic comedy, alongside Zac Efron and Miles Teller in "That Awkward Moment" (2014), a comedy about navigating friendship and sexual relationships. Given her background in romantic comedies, Davis' appearance in the AMC series "Halt & Catch Fire" (AMC 2014- ) about the personal computing boom of the 1980s, made an interesting and dynamic departure. Between seasons of that series, Davis appeared in the acclaimed "San Junipero" episode of anthology series "Black Mirror" (Netflix 2016- ) and in science fiction hit "The Martian" (2015) before co-starring in psycological thriller "Always Shine" (2016) and starring in the title role of dark comedy "Izzy Gets the F--k Across Town" (2017). Her highest-profile film role to date came in a major supporting role in Denis Villeneuve's "Blade Runner 2049" (2017).
