Mickey Fitzpatrick is a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in her district, she realizes that her personal history might be related to the case. Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News A number of red herrings get tossed in, but “Long Bright River” is at its best when addressing how those in power prey all too often on those who are most disadvantaged. Rated: 3/4 Mar 27, 2025 Full Review John Powers NPR Propelled by its heroine's search for a killer, Long Bright River isn't just a mystery but a heartfelt story about wounded communities, wounded families and the wounded individuals who try to make things better. Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Gavia Baker-Whitelaw Boston Globe Long Bright River is aimed at viewers who enjoy the more hard-hitting side of crime fiction. Despite its reliance on certain tried-and-tested archetypes, it stands out due to its direct engagement with the topic of addiction. Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Emma Stefansky The Daily Beast Long Bright River is not breaking any new ground when it comes to the inner-city cop drama following a rule-breaking officer with a complicated past, but the deliberate pacing out of its big reveals promises new shockers around every corner. Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Between Seyfried’s performance and the bread crumbs we get about Mickey’s past in the first episode, there’s enough to keep us watching Long Bright River. Mar 17, 2025 Full Review Matt Roush TV Insider Peacock’s Long Bright River, adapting Liz Moore’s terrifically gritty novel, boasts one of the most intriguingly imperfect heroines since HBO’s memorable Mare of Easttown in Mickey Fitzpatrick. greta r The show is such a twist and turn storyline! I love the fact it is in Philadelphia! I could not stop watching the show! I definitely will recommend this show to friends and family! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Andrei D Overplays the melodrama just a little but it's a great examination of how power can turn into abuse Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Tess F Series that drew me in with Mickey, great mom with an exceptional child, Thomas and how she tries as hard as i would in these circumstances to do right by my little son. Philadelphia offers the perfect blue collar background and mix of people who exist on either side of the law, with many straddling in between both! Entertaining to have a script that keeps me guessing which complex character i suspect of the violence that is happening to this community. Every time i think i'm starting to figure it out, the author, Liz Moore has the storyline take another twist! Then the journey to more clues comes along for us to try to figure out who the culprit is before the end. So many personal relationships as messy as they are felt so believable. Held my attention every episode and i want more! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/25 Full Review Mary F The book is excellent, and the series does a good job bringing the complexity of the characters to the screen. Acting is excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/25 Full Review Steven t Good strong story and with only 8 episodes it doesn't have time for a lot of filler. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Acacia M This is a show I will recommend to everyone! I love Amanda Seyfried and her performance was amazing in this! The messages that are delivered in the story are crucial and they were portrayed with a storyline that keeps you wanting more the deeper you get into the show. I binged this in 2 days. I especially love that this show highlights and corrects a lot of the stigmas about the homeless, sex workers, and how they end up in the situations they are in. They ALL grew up with dreams only to be shattered by circumstances they couldn’t have imagined and that does not make them less important. The show also focuses on another major social issue having to do with the police. There may be officers out there who take advantage but there are also officers out there who put their life on the line every single day who do care about the ethics of their job and they should not all be judged the same. Shows that bring a bit of social education to the world instead of being mindless garbage are definitely a win in my book! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
