Mickey Fitzpatrick is a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in her district, she realizes that her personal history might be related to the case. Matthew D Amanda Seyfried is such an underrated actress! I am floored by Amanda Seyfried's emotionally moving and intricate portrayal of beat cop Mickey Fitzgerald in the crime drama mystery miniseries Long Bright River (2025). Ashleigh Cummings is also amazing and touching. Their sincere and subtle acting is very poignant in this dark and somber miniseries. It may not be True Detective, Sharp Objects, or Big Little Lies, but Long Bright River is worth seeing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review V.A. Amanda Seyfried plays a complex, brilliant detective, who is more complex than her male colleagues give her credit for. The writing, directing, and acting were brilliant. What makes this series truly unique is the way that it treats violence against women with delicacy and respect. There are no gratuitous scenes of violence, and instead, it weaves a complex mystery, while elevating the issue of how many women are forgotten, trafficked, and abused on the streets of America, and it happens in front of our eyes. Kudos to Amanda Seyfried and I hope there's a second season.
