Dan G. @teamster-driver1 Feb 1 Predictably with Hollywood now, all of the drug addicts and drug dealers are really just good, salt-of-the-earth people and all of the white male cops are evil - ridiculous; acting is great , pacing is a bit too slow (feels like this could been 5 or 6 episodes easily), main character and partner do a lot of things that no cop ever would do in the real world or get fired really fast that are very “cringe-y” , hurts the “authentic” “the wire” type vibe the show attempts. However, if someone who's struggled with mental illness and addiction my whole life and this seems like a pretty accurate poor portrait of what addiction is where it takes you. See more Yash B @yashbansal Jan 7 "Long Bright River" starts out with a truly engaging mystery with lots of intrigue. I also think the show highlights some important topics, and I admired it for that. Amanda Seyfried is terrific in the lead role, and her performance is easily the biggest highlight of the show. I do think 8 episodes does make this series run a little long, and often it does feel like it is spinning its wheels. I can see how it may be better as a book, as it is based on one. I still think it is a decent one-time watch, but I also think there are better miniseries out there with a similar vibe and higher-quality storylines. Overall, the show is just okay, but Seyfried does a commendable job in the lead role. See more Sabontu A. @sabontu Dec 24 The acting was amazing, and I appreciated how the show shined a light on drug addiction, and people living on the streets. However, I wish it had focused more on the investigation; at times, it felt like there were too many storylines happening at once. the series would have been stronger if it had centered more on Mickeys relationship with her sister and the actual investigation. The romance felt unnecessary, and the double date she had with the medical examiner and her husband didn’t add much to the storyline. It is worth watching all the way through though. Still, it is worth watching all the way through. See more M D P Dec 20 This police prestige-oral is beyond boring, the lead police officer is so irritating it's unreal but more offensive is how this story feels like it's set 50yrs ago, do you realistically expect me to believe that a female police officer is that strange in a large American city? If this drama focused on the murders instead of PC borings family life it might be passable.... it isn't See more S R Dec 9 The overall story is interesting. But there are too many less interesting Sloooooow diversions and the season is 3-4 episodes too long. Very strong acting but most episodes are a slog to get through.
