But for now, it’s the TV equivalent of one of those big waves that lose steam before hitting the shore. Bout time for a modern day, pulse pounding, adrenaline pumping, life saving, life guard/paramedic show based on the North Shore, yes the one and only place to surf in the Hawaiian Isles! The actors are all pretty good, but some of the writing about their lives need more attention to detail. For instance we know the Captain ("Uncle Sonny") recently lost his nephew and is struggling with his grief, but haven't had enough family or flashback scenes to really get the context. Fortunately, we do get some intriguing glimpses into office politics (e.g. the mayor's son is given a plum assignment in exchange for more funding). Enough so that I've been checking in on Hulu each week. FWIW - The energy of this show seems international to me, more like Australia's RFDS than a typical U.S. show.
