R.J. Decker is a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida. The series follows him tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor -- a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally -- or his one-way ticket back to prison.

Though it’s certainly possible Speedman will grow into the part as the season progresses, he comes off as simultaneously too sweaty and too clean-cut in the early going. Go to Full Review

Though the show’s structure is rather run-of-the-mill despite some very bizarre crimes, the characters keep this series buoyant. Go to Full Review

If you’re the sort who likes to let a network play straight through prime time, this is a good place to park. Go to Full Review

This offbeat, crime-solving dramatic comedy features a man who's trying to find justice for deserving people in his own way while celebrating some of the distinct (and often downright strange) vibes Florida is known for. Go to Full Review

Whether or not R.J. Decker becomes a long-lasting standout in the genre à la Burn Notice remains to be seen. There was nothing in the premiere that made it stand out to me. Go to Full Review
Joel Keller Decider Mar 6
Once the awkwardness of setting up R.J. Decker‘s puzzle pieces ends, we see the potential for it to be a fun, quirky case-of-the-week detective series that will concentrate on its characters’ stories as much if not more than the weekly case. Go to Full Review

Jill B @RT42220494 22h Love this show! It has a bit of everything! mystery! Family! Scenery! Action! Drama and comedy! Excellent actirs See more Scully M @RT88157941 4d I watched the first episode and it was meh. I see reviews where people said it got better, but I'm going with a big nope. My time is too valuable and there are too many better shows to watch. See more Ja K @Jako53 5d Overall I'm not a bad show but why does everything have to have something that goes down the gay road. 3 to 4% of the country is gay so why does it always have to be shoved in our face See more Ron E @RT98165246 Mar 24 Off to a slow start, I'm glad I stayed with it though. Good show! See more micah C @micahcreech1 Mar 17 R.J is nothing special in the world of crime dramas, but its cast shines a light at the end of the tunnel. If it gets another season, I would like more screen time with the supporting cast and to get into their lives. I do see potential in this show, but I am not seeing anything keeping me with it. There is no overarching story like I thought there would be, and I think that is crucial in broadcast TV shows nowadays. See more Vicki Z @RT03667214 Mar 14 I liked this a lot more than I expected. I expected more bro humor and was thankful it was more clever than that. See more Read all reviews
