Still a bright beacon in the Star Trek universe, Strange New Worlds' third season makes up for its lack of narrative ambition with gleaming execution.

Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) It has everything the discerning Trekkie could want. Epic interstellar battles, dodgy yellow knitwear and alien races with pointy plastic ears that look like they might go warp factor nine near an open flame. Rated: 4/5 Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Clint Worthington RogerEbert.com A show that continues to uphold the ideals of its franchise’s point of origin, even as its swings boldly go nowhere all that deep. Jul 17, 2025 Full Review Christian Blauvelt IndieWire All that’s left is the fun. Hey, who are we to complain when it’s a show this fun? But “Star Trek” always has had the capacity to be more, and so has this show. Rated: B- Jun 16, 2025 Full Review Vera Wylde Council of Geeks 10 episodes for a couple of "decent" episodes and one "good" episode... this season hurt. Oct 18, 2025 Full Review Luke Y. Thompson Mortal Cinema (Substack) How does one pass judgment on effective fan service, when the fan is me, and I feel served...yet I can't help feeling it's at the expense of what the TV show at hand ought to be doing? Aug 26, 2025 Full Review Monita Roy Mohan Stereo Geeks (Podcast) It’s got the balance of episodic storytelling and a continuing narrative. But the gimmicky episodes aren’t the only highlights. They’ve given us such lovely characters, played by these compelling actors who just capture the screen. Aug 9, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Firstname L I sure hope Seasons 4 & 5 have more drama, deeper cosmic explorations and less silly character / relationship development - the problem, partly, is I have little incentive to rewatch Season 3 later having seen it once. Season 3 came perilously close to shark jumping. The light-hearted stuff is best served up as condiments sprinkled lightly. I'd like to see a breakthrough development with the Gorn - maybe with some Gorn intellectuals who break free from their cultural restrictions. And more about Kirk's rise to captaincy, but mostly in a serious way. More about, "What's going to happen next?" that bolster Star Trek canon. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Craig D I hated this, Star Trek has lost its soul, reused unoriginal stories. This franchise is a disappointment Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/09/25 Full Review Fahrettin P This season something has happened. After great 2 seasons, the authors just messed it up. I consider this season as never happened and if they are going with this direction, season 4 should be cancelled. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/25 Full Review scott c I loved seasons 1&2. Unfortunately they got a little too creative in season 3 and a lot of it was just dumb. And boring. I hope they go back to what works.... Good story telling. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Chuck C. I actually came back to Paramount Plus to watch season 3…very sorry I did! I didn’t realize the season was going to be the life and times of Nurse Chapel, with the lovelife of Mr. Spock as the subplot! Also, the dialog is awful, and the characters are just plain rediculous! Pike cannot make a command decision…Spock is completely confused about being a Vulcan…Nurse Chapel is the main focus, and has unbelievable knowledge on everything…Scotty is a muse…the doctor, is an ex assassin who rarely does any doctoring…the all female bridge crew spend time, even during battles, whining and trying to outwit each other…and the mission…you know, “ explore new worlds, seek out new life, etc., etc.,” is completely forgotten. I was only able to make it through 4 episodes, and honestly, I fast forwarded through 2-4! I love Star Trek, but this show really stinks…unless you are really into bad soap operas!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/21/25 Full Review Lois M Friends in space is the perfect description of Strange New Worlds! 🤣🤣 Pike (Ross) cheated on Batel (Rachel) in the first season. I guess it was okay because they were on a "break"? 🤣 Then everyone is dating each other + swapping around. This 3rd season really leaned into the romcom garbage.
