Keith Watson Daily Telegraph (UK) Because though it reaches for the deep and meaningful, this oddly moreish soap opera too often settles for fortune-cookie philosophy. Rated: 3/5 Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Tom Philip AV Club Season two of The Big Door Prize won’t win over many new converts, but despite its well-worn flaws, there’s been care and effort put into trying something different this time. Rated: C Apr 22, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked The idea of a device that knows everything about you is, to any sensible person, horrifying; but nothing that bad happens on The Big Door Prize, because nothing that bad ever happens to anyone in an Apple sitcom. Aug 28, 2024 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba Despite a winsome ensemble cast and moments of charm, the show ultimately fails to balance its high-concept setup with its grounded portrayal of quirky small-town life. Jun 17, 2024 Full Review Brian Farvour The Playlist It’s a messy experience, fortunately, broken up by more much-needed humor than was seen in its preceding season, but with characters simultaneously introducing elements that do little more than overstuff the plate. Rated: C Jun 6, 2024 Full Review Sherin Nicole RIOTUS The show’s themes and ensemble cast give us Sims-like reflections of our own lives, offering avatars for explorations of self, through whimsical paths we might not choose or have the option of choosing for ourselves. Gareth v The charm factor starts to wear thin, and things just meander on to nowhere at times. Disappointing 2nd season. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review J H A masterpiece of a show. Incredibly funny, good pacing, engaging plot, interesting mystery. Love the philosophical questions. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Andrew M I love this show and think if it was marketed more they may change their mind on cancelation. The cliff hanger is a horrible way to end the show. Hope Apple changes their mind Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review Eric N I thoroughly enjoyed season two of The Big Door Prize. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in the first season, but I enjoyed all the character development and story lines of the second season. A lot of the characters are actually enjoyable this season, which I didn't find to be the case previously. That list includes Giorgio, Beau, Trina, Mr. Johnson, Hana, Father Reuben, etc. Some reviewers don't seem to like the way the second season ended, but I thought it was a nice way to wrap things up. Hopefully, Apple greenlights a third season, as it would be nice to see what other tricks the creators have up their sleeves. If not, I'm happy with the way things ended. If you're up for a quirky, offbeat show that really kicks up the emotions in season two, give The Big Door Prize a watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/24 Full Review Anthony D Season 2 gets even better. The mystery of the Morpho continues. New love blooms, relationships tested, the town is consumed by this game. Again, the cast is absolutely lovable and believable. This is definitely a bing worthy show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review N T Season 1 started well, with an interesting idea which was explored. Now, on the back of its success, we have this directionless and uninteresting drivel. Seems the writers are stretching out the one and only plot idea into a series of meandering tedious events with the characters becoming more and more absurd. Watch season 1 and leave it there. The meandering “how can we stretch this out to make more vacuous episodes” show has run its course. I won’t be back for season 3. I had to force myself to finish season 2 to see if it would improve. Alas, no. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
