It isn’t exactly a series that’s reinventing the wheel in the world of crime dramas. But, in many ways, its formulaic nature is part of its appeal, and its solid execution makes for an enjoyable enough ride Go to Full Review

Ultimately, the series is more of the same—well done, but more of the same—especially for those who frequent the genre as readers. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The series brilliantly capitalizes on the anxiety generated by our constant exposure to the internet and transforms something as mundane as the digital footprint we constantly leave behind into pure terror. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Chestnut Man: Hide And Seek is as creepy as the original season of The Chestnut Man, with the case at hand enhanced by the now-established personal and professional relationship between Naia and Mark. Go to Full Review

I binge-watched all episodes in one sitting and can highly recommend that you do the same. I certainly found it very difficult to stop watching the sequel series The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek. Enjoy and keep guessing, even as you start getting it right. Go to Full Review

Larry M. @meek61 Jun 14 Very well done. Good pacing and story See more Rob L @Billy2542 Jun 7 Top notch. Why they can;t make this for American audiences I dont know. Its like they know that Americans are idiots and unless there's a trans black person friends with Zendaya and fighting against caricature 1980s white bullies it can't get made in America. Great show. See more Pete C @Pete1 Jun 4 Enjoyable watch, though seems very similar to season 1 in how the crime was solved. Seems to be some holes in the character development of Mark Hess, a lot of unanswered questions there. Overall though it's a solid crime drama series and worth a watch See more Rasmus S @RT89698378 Jun 4 Season 1 was in my opinion very solid. With the slight issue that the Danish police seemed at the very least incredibly bad at their jobs, following no safety protocols and completely incapable of using a firearm safely. But it was something you could look past for the good story and mystery. Season 2 has amplified this 10x. The story seems like a carbon copy of season 1 and then on top of that the Danish police is borderline incompetent. A mass shooting event with no AKS(Danish SWAT) in sight, no ambulances to be seen. All of this would happen in minutes. Police already at the scene pre-warned to be cautious just walking around without a weapon drawn after gunshots has been fired, leading civilians towards gunfire and leaving his partner, absolutely absurd. But worst of all the main character having ample opportunity to neutralize the threat but instead chose to lower her weapon? Completely ruins it for me. See more Michael Shane B @KVD1969 May 27 The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek is the highly anticipated second season of the acclaimed Danish Nordic noir series, which premiered on Netflix on May 7, 2026. Adapted from Søren Sveistrup's literary sequel, this drama, mystery, and thriller season reunites detectives Naia Thulin and Mark Hess after a single mother mysteriously goes missing. The investigative partners are thrust into a dark, psychological web when they discover the perpetrator is a ruthless stalker who taunts victims with sinister children's nursery rhymes. As they race against the clock across Copenhagen, the case takes a deeply unsettling turn by linking directly to a disturbing, unsolved cold case involving a missing teenager. See more Jonny E @RT30347980 May 25 The biggest problem with Season 2 isn't that it's inherently unwatchable in a vacuum—it's that it functions as a glaring, 1:1 carbon copy of Season 1. The parallels to the show's own previous storyline are simply too obvious to ignore. It feels as though the writers took the exact same script, shuffled the deck, and hit "repeat." Because the narrative beats mirror the first season so closely, you always know exactly what is going to happen next. As a result, the central mystery falls completely flat. Honestly, if you had never seen the first season, you would probably consider this a much stronger season of television. But for returning viewers, the predictability kills the suspense entirely. However, the absolute most frustrating flaw is the handling of the female lead. Ultimately, a predictable mystery is bad enough, but sacrificing a great lead character just to tell a copy-paste story makes this sophomore season a massive letdown. 0.5 stars, and that is being generous.
