It isn’t exactly a series that’s reinventing the wheel in the world of crime dramas. But, in many ways, its formulaic nature is part of its appeal, and its solid execution makes for an enjoyable enough ride Go to Full Review

Ultimately, the series is more of the same—well done, but more of the same—especially for those who frequent the genre as readers. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The series brilliantly capitalizes on the anxiety generated by our constant exposure to the internet and transforms something as mundane as the digital footprint we constantly leave behind into pure terror. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Chestnut Man: Hide And Seek is as creepy as the original season of The Chestnut Man, with the case at hand enhanced by the now-established personal and professional relationship between Naia and Mark. Go to Full Review

I binge-watched all episodes in one sitting and can highly recommend that you do the same. I certainly found it very difficult to stop watching the sequel series The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek. Enjoy and keep guessing, even as you start getting it right. Go to Full Review

Michael Shane B @KVD1969 3d The Chestnut Man: Hide and Seek is the highly anticipated second season of the acclaimed Danish Nordic noir series, which premiered on Netflix on May 7, 2026. Adapted from Søren Sveistrup's literary sequel, this drama, mystery, and thriller season reunites detectives Naia Thulin and Mark Hess after a single mother mysteriously goes missing. The investigative partners are thrust into a dark, psychological web when they discover the perpetrator is a ruthless stalker who taunts victims with sinister children's nursery rhymes. As they race against the clock across Copenhagen, the case takes a deeply unsettling turn by linking directly to a disturbing, unsolved cold case involving a missing teenager. See more Jonny E @RT30347980 5d The biggest problem with Season 2 isn't that it's inherently unwatchable in a vacuum—it's that it functions as a glaring, 1:1 carbon copy of Season 1. The parallels to the show's own previous storyline are simply too obvious to ignore. It feels as though the writers took the exact same script, shuffled the deck, and hit "repeat." Because the narrative beats mirror the first season so closely, you always know exactly what is going to happen next. As a result, the central mystery falls completely flat. Honestly, if you had never seen the first season, you would probably consider this a much stronger season of television. But for returning viewers, the predictability kills the suspense entirely. However, the absolute most frustrating flaw is the handling of the female lead. Ultimately, a predictable mystery is bad enough, but sacrificing a great lead character just to tell a copy-paste story makes this sophomore season a massive letdown. 0.5 stars, and that is being generous. See more Bob V @BVD332 5d Season 1 was awesome. Season 2 left a lot to be desired. After Mark Hess, who with Naia Thulin solved the Chestnut man Season 1 and dated for 6 month broke up. Mark left and went to Interpol, Naia and her daughter Le, had no idea why he left. Season 2 starts with Mark's brother being in a coma and Mark coming back to Copenhagen. Women are being murdered and they team up again to solve why, with a clue being a child's rhyme. I found the Mark a poor character. He seemed very self centered and a no one else knows as much as he does personality. Both the ML and FL don't seem to follow police policy as they are both sloppy in working a crime scene. Episode 3, there should have been police on the scene, before she went into the building and then not knowing where the shooter was she telling people to leave, which could have gotten then killed. Mark knows who the murderer is, but basically let her get the drop on him. Overall I place that character a total richard cranium See more Chris B @CBoosalis May 19 The storyline started off strong. Then the mass shooting at the clinic... it took over 10 minutes for any sign of police or task force to show up ..and their police officer dies in the street alone ... this is a real blunder error in writing and directing ... mass shootings these days gets swat teams within 5 minutes... stupid writing destroyed the great beginning... See more Michael G @RT36042077 May 19 Like most people, I was more than a little bummed out by what happened in episode 3. Fortunately, I stayed with the second season and was delighted to find that it was very good despite losing a major character.
