What to Know

Critics Consensus

Slick as a well-pressed suit and given watchable wattage by its cast, Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen doesn't seamlessly expand upon the original movie but has enough verve to be fun on its own terms.

Camilla Long Times (UK) It is difficult to think of another director who’s evolved less than Ritchie. Honestly, how does he do it? Mar 11, 2024 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) Ritchie is mockable for the same reason that he is imitable, which is that he birthed a genre. The trouble with The Gentlemen, though, is that it feels less like it’s been made by an imitator than it has been by a bot. Mar 11, 2024 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) The eight-episode format does not suit Ritchie. The pacing lags behind the manic kineticism of his features while it gives him even more space to indulge in his unnecessarily complicated plots. Mar 10, 2024 Full Review Martin Carr martincarr.co.uk Never short of backbone or gumption by the shovel load, The Gentlemen rolls up in its Land Rover and off loads an opening season guaranteed to blow your hair back. Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Clotilde Chinnici Loud and Clear Reviews The Gentlemen is a fascinating product thanks to its premise and setting but it could have wrapped up its plot a lot more nicely than with a disappointing last episode that attempts to tie all loose ends and connect all the threads and characters. Rated: 3/5 Sep 14, 2024 Full Review Maria Lattila Film Stories There’s absolutely nothing going on underneath the surface of The Gentlemen, but it’s indulgent fun. It also shows Ritchie at his most relaxed, something that has been missing from his later work. Apr 12, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Heidi O Good characters, witty dialog, interesting story and good visuals. Lots of violence. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review Paul M Love it. Funny, and great characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/09/24 Full Review Samara A The Gentlemen series is a real standout. The director did an incredible job creating a story that’s engaging from start to finish, with just the right balance of drama and comedy. The music choices were spot on—each track fit perfectly with the tone of the show, adding to the atmosphere without feeling forced. The actors all really brought their A-game, delivering performances that felt genuine and kept you invested in their characters. It was a highly enjoyable watch, with a great mix of humor, tension, and style. A four for now (no pun intended for Theo James' previous role). I’d love to see more of this show and hope it grows into something bigger because I believe there’s more potential to explore. The story could benefit from more complications beyond Freddy being at the center of it all. I’m especially looking forward to seeing Eddie get his hands dirty and not just protecting the “family’s interests,” but his own as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/06/24 Full Review Jake D I loved this TV show, binged it in a single day! Theo does an amazing job as the Duke and the TV show has one of the most interesting plots I've seen. Guy Ritchie also delivered a satisfying ending which is also a perfect setup for Season 2! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Bob P What a quirky insane series about a new lord and his dysfunctional family getting involved in the drug trade. Just when you think it can't get any crazier it does. Kaye Scodelario as Suse Glass is fabulous and Theo James as Eddie is unflappable. I can't wait 'til season two. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Mark P Guy Ritchie doing what Guy Ritchie does. You know what you are getting, which is why we all like walking into our favourite food franchise. The story ticks along at a decent pace and entertains. That's all you need. I want to be entertained, I don't need a morality lesson, or have a narrative flung at me like so many series tend to do these days. Just entertain me and I'm happy. Some blink and you miss it plot resolutions hint at writers wrapping up a bit too easily, but still enjoyable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
