      Critics Consensus

The Irrational could've used a lot more originality to live up to its promise, although Jesse L. Martin's shrewd presence makes even the utterly conventional pretty watchable. Read critic reviews

I don't understand why this show could get more than one star. This is one of the worst TV shows I've ever seen. I wanted to turn it off after fifteen minutes but I forced myself to make it through the first episode and will never watch again.

The show "The Irrational" is so much fun! I can't get enough of it. It's not just entertaining, but it also has an amazing cast led by an outstanding performance by Jesse Martin. I was in need of a good show to sink my teeth into, and "The Irrational" did not disappoint. This is what television should be. It's one of the few shows my entire family can agree upon. From the very first episode, I was a fan. It came at a perfect time as the writers' and actors' strike seemed to affect new quality shows. "The Irrational" filled this void. I'll be looking forward to future episodes, and i also will be reading the book now too.

Overall enjoyable. I like that each episode had a resolved plotline, reminding me of much older episodic tv series. There is a crime mystery threaded across the entire season as a separate slow moving background plot that didn't detract from each episodes individual story and resolution.. However, some episodes are very in-your-face with tiresome woke progressive themes, and I consider that propaganda, neither informative nor entertaining. Otherwise I might have rated it a bit higher.

I love this show! I can't wait every week for the next episode to air. The characters are down to earth and witty. The storyline never disappoints. I find it fun, interesting, and at times quite thought provoking.

Poorly written and aside from the lead character it is very poorly acted. Gave it a shot, 1st episode was decent and then down hill from there. Don't waste your time with this one folks.

      • Nov 08, 2023

It's just a really good show, period.

      • Nov 07, 2023

So it's basically The Mentalist, without the wit, or the intelligence, or the writing, or Simon Baker or.....actually it's not the mentalist, it's just a mess.

I have a new favorite show! I LOVE this show and it's cast. The plot is intelligent and intriguing. The characters have been perfectly casted.

This is sadly what happens when nepotism is in charge of TV. The show is based on a book written many years ago and many of the biases they talk about have been debunked. The most horrible episode is the one about the casino talking about how "luck does not exist". The show is ignoring the producers' own biases regarding this. If you are a producer, obviously you are wealthy and lucky but sadly these horrible people are using tv shows to continue selling meritocracy myths and trying to convince people not to believe in luck. The plot is slow and the formula is overused: A man with unique abilities hired by the FBI (Lie to me, White collar, etc) and some other people to solve cases and it just doesn't deliver with a strong note getting weaker and weaker episodes and the solutions are rather predictable. I watched it so you don't have to. I am pretty sure you can watch something better like ANYTHING ELSE.

Overall a great show that I would definitely love to see more of. I also love feeling like I'm truly learning more about human behavior.
