What to Know

Critics Consensus

Relocating The Office Down Under doesn't completely sidestep the pitfalls of feeling like a photocopy of a photocopy, but a likable cast keeps this new workplace highly watchable.

My take on the Australian variant? Relax, it’s fine... Any attempt to make a local edition is fraught with risk. But Julie De Fina and Jackie van Beek’s adaptation mostly sits in a familiar space defined by Australian habits. Go to Full Review

Workplaces have changed in the 11 years (!) since the end of the NBC run - the Australian version opens with a reckoning with work-from-home culture, a nod to Zoom quizzes, the reality of corporate rent, and a fairly good bit about standing desks. Go to Full Review

The latest edition of the mockumentary sitcom does not make a convincing case for its own existence — yet. P45s all round. Go to Full Review

The Office Australia finds itself with some similar plotlines and characters [to The Office US], and it still largely follows the same formula; but, it does have its moments where it shines. Go to Full Review

…in a world permanently hostile to successful women, it’s a real positive that the Australian Office is out there and exists at all; created by Jackie van Beek and Julie De Fina, it’s got a rude life and vitality all of its own… Go to Full Review

Sahel Z @Sahel398 Sep 4 The show is nothing but boring and in my opinion it feels like they are forcing the show to be the same as the American version but it not. Please dont waste your time on this show and watch somthing better it a waste of your time See more W M @RT59037738 May 24 The original office made you cringe from the performance of Ricky Gervais. The U.S version was so successful it's become a staple of reruns and binge worth tv for multiple generations. In fact there's been a dozen spinoffs of the office that have had success. The Australian office takes cringe to a whole new level. Not from the brilliant performances, but the lack of an ioda of comedic talent from the cast and writers. This really felt like the typical nepotistic media connected "comedians" landing a project that they did not have the skillset to actually achieve. There's millions of hilarious Aussies in our country yet the only "comedians" we see get gigs or projects on tv/streaming are upper middle class humourless drones. This show is an embarrassment and let's all pretend it never happened See more Nitsan F @RT29440553 04/22/2025 Huge office US fan. I've only seen a couple of episodes of this. It has funny bits but I'm finding it hard to want to continue. It's not bad. It's just missing something. Might get better later. The American version didn't start off perfect. See more Aeron T @RT18801418 04/09/2025 Well shoot I thought this was the US office so I guess I'll just have to leave it here See more R T @RT22430229 02/03/2025 I keep comparing to UK/US version due to name and it feels like a horrible hand me down compared to those. See more Simon G @RT23815730 01/05/2025 I was sceptical at first being a big fan of the original (UK) version, however it’s witty and a good modern take of the current office environment. You need to give it a bit of time to start. A good watch. See more Read all reviews
