Predictability keeps The Perfect Couple far from being perfect, but intriguing performances and attractive vistas keep this seaside murder mystery highly watchable.

Maxwell Rabb Chicago Reader Where The Perfect Couple goes wrong -- and where White Lotus succeeded -- is assuming its audience is watching. Instead, everything of note is spelled out so attention to the characters themselves feels secondary Nov 2, 2024 Full Review Vinson Cunningham The New Yorker Kidman knowingly symbolizes this whole world of televisual interest in the rich. She’s got a face like one of the slinkier, sexier, more elusive species of big cat—a puma, say, or a lynx—one of those vague, quick, elegant eminences... Oct 8, 2024 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine You’d have to be a bigger snob than me to resist the brain-emptying pleasures of The Perfect Couple. Not every show has to be a masterpiece to be a good time, nor does being a great actor require career-long genuflection at the altar of cinema... Sep 19, 2024 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz It’s a kind of The White Lotus-meets-The Affair, Bier making terrific use of the island setting, opulent surrounds and fractured narrative to portray a clash of cultures and a family lousy in secrets and lies. Oct 9, 2024 Full Review Robert W. Butler Butler's Cinema Scene There are way too many superfluous subplots, digressions, red herrings and narrative dead ends. For much of the series I felt I was treading water… getting in my exercise but going nowhere. Oct 5, 2024 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL Summer may be over, but if you haven’t already indulged, The Perfect Couple can give you one last sunburned, overserved, vacation-season contact high. Craig B Bordering on passable. Some pretty ordinary dialogue and acting, plus a few characters who are just plain annoying. The mystery eventually unfolds to show viewers the answers to all the questions posed in this thankfully short series. If you're going to watch this, definitely fast forward through the credits with the ridiculous group dancing on the beach, and shut your brain off and take in the B-grade drama that unfolds. If you enjoy this, well, that will come down to how fussy you are and what you expected in the first place. Don't expect too much and you may get something out of this. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review Rachel M Not too bad. I gave it a shot, it's OK but wouldn't watch it again or recommend it to anyone. Had potential to be better, can't place my finger on what it was that flopped it for me. Hard to enjoy, became a chore to get through. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Tim N I didn't hate it, didn't love it. It was a vaguely amusing watch. The sets and locations were colorful and enjoyable. Some of the characters were watchable. But they threw too many red herrings and contrived plot twists that ultimately became irritating and whose purpose seemed to be to fill in more time. The ending was unsatisfying with the killer and motive seemingly thrown in after exhausting all other possibilities. It could have been worse- the maid could have done it. All in all it was okay to kill a few hours but not memorable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review petrs l This series has well-known actors, but that's it. Their acting is horrid; all characters are horrid; you don't feel sympathy for any of them; very stereotyping; boring like most Hollywood films lately. Same old, same old... not creative, just a new version of the same kind of movies. The worst and most despicable is the self-righteous, good-for-nothing bride, who was there judgeing every single person since she arrived at this home, the most judged of all was her alleged best friends, who died alone because she left her alone at the hardest moment of her life. Boring and not well written because it is not entertaining. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Sam A Not a bad watch, but wish I hadn't bothered. Only benjis fiancée and her parents are likeable characters, the rest are ghastly. A load of self indulgent lower rich people. Still I didn't guess who dunnit, but then maybe I didn't care. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Av U The characters personalities changed at the drop of a hat with no consistency or real character development. The producers didn't seem to know what the actual story was so irrelevant plot lines ( the bride and family could all have been cut with zero effect on story or outcome). Done so much better by White Lotus, Glass Onion etc. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews
