Lee Ingleby was a British film and television actor who appeared in dozens of high-profile productions, including the BBC drama "The A-Word" (BBC, 2016- ), over the course of his years in the acting business. Born and raised in the British town of Burnley, Ingleby's interest in acting began when he was in high school. He performed in numerous school productions and quickly proved himself to be a standout performer. It was his high school drama teacher that convinced Ingleby to purse acting after graduation, which he did by enrolling in the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Ingleby spent a few years at the school, where he learned to hone his craft while performing in front of a live audience. Feeling confident with his skill level, Ingleby started auditioning for British film and TV roles in the late 90s. He nabbed his first part on the British drama "Soldier Soldier" (ITV, 1991-97) in 1997, and spent the next five years consistently landing guest spots on television. His breakout film role came in 2003 when he appeared alongside Oscar-winner Russell Crowe in the maritime period drama "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" (2003). The following year Ingleby was cast in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004), which, given the worldwide popularity of the franchise, raised his acting profile even more. Throughout the 2000s Ingleby continued appearing in movies and TV shows, including a role on the crime drama "Inspector George Gently" (BBC, 2007- ), whose popularity quickly made him one of the most recognizable faces on British television. In 2016 was cast in the British drama "The A Word." In the series, which debuted on the BBC in March of 2016, Ingleby played the father of an autistic son. Critics lauded the series, and in May of that year, the BBC announced that it would be producing a second season.
