Evan Katz is a television writer and producer, perhaps best known for his work on the hit series "24." He began his career in television after studying at Wesleyan University. In 1990 he broke into television as a writer, penning "Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again," a TV movie inspired by the popular Archie comics, as well as an episode of the drama series "My Life and Times." Throughout the 1990s he wrote several episodes of the hit crime dramas "The Commish" and "JAG" until he was able to create his own show, "Special Unit 2," which he also wrote and produced. Unfortunately, the series, which centered on Chicago cops hunting monsters, was not the hit he'd hoped for, and only ran for 16 episodes. While "Special Unit 2" floundered, another crime drama on which Katz served as writer and producer took off. The ticking clock hit "24" became highly acclaimed and ran for eight seasons. Katz was a consulting producer and executive producer on the show, and wrote over 40 episodes during its run. After "24" ended, Katz became the show runner on a new crime drama, "The Event," on which he is also an executive producer.
