Born in Ottawa, Canada in 1987, Grace Lynn Kung spent much of her youth studying piano with little enthusiasm. When he decided to quit, her mother insisted that she continue to study the arts, so Kung chose acting. Before long, she was enrolling at Ottawa School of Speech and Drama, setting her sights on a career on stage and screen. She landed her first role in 2001 in the comedy "Lost and Delirious" (2001), and soon joined the cast of the  series "Slings and Arrows" (TMN, 2003-06). She went on to appear in a recurring role on the series "Being Erica" (BBC, 2009-2011), but around this time, Kung became fed up with the amount of typecasting she faced as a result of her Asian heritage. Born and raised in Canada, Kung eventually grew tired of being asked to effect a Chinese accent in auditions. She decided on a change of pace and moved to London where she studied alternative medicine and eventually earned two certificates of distinction from Trinity College. She eventually decided to continue acting however, splitting her time between North America and the U.K., and was soon rewarded with the memorable role of genius pathologist JoJo Kwan on the series "InSecurity" (CBC, 2011-2012). Kung followed this with co-starring roles on "Touring T.O." (Bell, 2014) and "Mary Kills People" (Lifetime, 2017-). She later joined the cast of the HBO movie adaptation of the classic dystopian novel "Fahrenheit 451" (HBO, 2018).
