Jennifer Salt
Jennifer Salt is a writer and producer working in film and television, and was an actress from the late 1960s until 1990. Born on September 4, 1944, in Los Angeles, Salt played Annie, the hometown lover of fledgling male prostitute Joe Buck (Jon Voigt) in the 1969 classic "Midnight Cowboy," which co-starred Dustin Hoffman, and she was also the lead in the horror classic "Sisters." Through the 1970s and '80s, Salt made single-episode appearances on such TV hits as "Love, American Style" in 1973, "The Love Boat" in 1979, and "Magnum, P.I.," in 1986. Her biggest role, meanwhile, was as Eunice Tate on the influential ABC comedy "Soap," where she appeared on 63 episodes over all four seasons. After her acting career stopped in 1990, Salt took a long reprieve from the industry before making her way back in as a writer in 1998, penning four episodes of "Sins of the City." After a few more under-the-radar projects, in 2003 Salt joined the crew of the hit F/X drama "Nip/Tuck," as both a writer and producer, roles which she maintained through the decade, and which climaxed with a well-publicized screenwriting effort: Salt co-wrote the screenplay for the much-talked-about film adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling memoir, "Eat Pray Love," the 2010 film that starred Julia Roberts as a screen-version of Gilbert.
