Birthday: May 16, 1920

Popular, tantalizing leading lady in French films of the 1950s. If Brigitte Bardot was France's equivalent during this time of Marilyn Monroe, the often brunette Carol was her country's version of Jane Russell and Ava Gardner and, like several of these other actresses, became as noted for her low-cut costumes as she was for other talents. In several films by her husband Christian-Jaque but most engaging in the title role of Max Ophuls's brilliant "Lola Montes" (1955).
