Nyasha Hatendi was born on Sept. 14, 1981, in Washington, D.C, and was raised in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe. Enrollment at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England, led Hatendi to the professional pursuit of acting. He made his first small screen appearance on an episode of the British medical drama "Holby City" (BBC One 1999-), and his first big screen appearance in the Robert De Niro-directed thriller "The Good Shepherd" (2006). From there, Hatendi appeared in a number of short-form projects, like "And the Woods Fell Silent Again" (2007), and television series, most notably the long-running British anthology program "Silent Witness" (BBC One 1996-). Hatendi also began to pad his résumé with stage and feature film work. He starred in the play "The Brothers Size" (2008), for which he was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award. He also appeared in Roman Polanski's "The Ghost Writer" (2010) and the British films "The Comedian" (2012) and "Narcopolis" (2015). Hatendi's first major small screen role came through the American comedy series "Casual" (Hulu 2015-), produced by Jason Reitman and costarring Michaela Watkins and Frances Conroy. On the series, Hatendi played Leon, an early love interest and friend for Watkins' protagonist Valerie.
