Critics Consensus

Equal parts plot holes and unintentional laughs, Replicas is a ponderously lame sci-fi outing that isn't even bad enough to be so bad it's good.

Nick G. There is probably something better to watch. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/13/21 Full Review Audience Member Don't know why everyone has been so mean, this was a straight forward story exploring human cloning. It was entertaining, good acting and just a strong story line. It is not a thinky film there was no exploration of the morals and ethics. I quite liked that they didn't. Was a straight forward good to watch film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/25 Full Review Tim V Keanu Reeves hangs up the John Wick suit for this one, playing a scientist, Husband and father of three. Working on Lazarus like trials, he suddenly finds himself in dire need to perfect his procedure when a car wreck takes the lives of his family. The writing is spotty, and the CGI is horrendous (anyone else remember The Lawnmower Man?), but it's well acted enough to be mildy entertaining. I wouldn't suggest buying it, but if you can stream it or something, it's worth a watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review D P One measure I use to gauge the quality of a film is if I can remember the ending. I had trouble remembering how this ended. I read the synopsis, and was like, oh yeah! I remember now! That's not a good sign. I never have trouble recalling the ending to a movie I was thoroughly invested in. It wasn't total trash. It was just unnecessary space in Hollywood. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review nick s A pretty good effort exploring the replication concept. I did feel the techno gobbledygook phase was a tad protracted. There was just something about the directorial choices and focus of the story that lost my interest. Characters reacted oddly/numbly to their situation. The acting was reasonable, though scarcely captivating. The ending started to fray and the sugar coated finale was a little hard to swallow. Having said that, this was not a terrible movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review Derick V First of all, Keanu brought me here. I know for a fact that the guy has a really good sense about how good a script is and this script was basically before it's time or literally at the exact time. Now, in 2025, I can see why some would possibly pay critics to lie about how bad a really good movie is in 2018/19 about an upcoming type of technology, esp., if it could scare the public away from the technology ( and thereby the profit, via military or medical means). The movie was weird and creepy but dealt fairly realistically with the tension behind a certain " neural- chip" technology that could make true biophyisology history...into the future. Acting was fine...while plot holes exist because of the obvious complexity of the subject matter, suffice it to say, this was a really good movie that left me wanting a sequel. Watch the thing for yourself and just get to know Chat Gpt for yourself while he is still your friend. Keanu was also in the Matrix you know, so watch out. Entry Terminated, but I'll Be Back. :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
