Vincent-Guillaume Otis
Vincent-Guillaume Otis was a Canadian-born actor best known for his performance as the title character in the critically-acclaimed fantasy movie "Babine" (2008). Otis was born in the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec on April 13, 1978. In 2003, the young Quebecois graduated from Canada's premiere educational center for aspiring actors, École nationale de théâtre du Canada. Afterwards, Otis and a few of his theater school contemporaries founded the Picouille Théatre, a non-profit organization that put together performances to educate and cultivate children about the wonders of theater. Meanwhile, he began to steadily develop his professional acting career in both Canadian film and television. His feature film debut was a small role in the 2005 drama "The Outlander." Otis's past experience in theater helped in garner much acclaim for his portrayal of the titular village idiot in the fantasy movie "Babine." The film was a critical success and earned numerous nominations, including a Best Actor nod for Otis, from Quebec's prestigious Jutra Awards, an annual award that recognized films produced in the French-speaking province. While "Babine" displayed his talent for light-hearted comedy, Otis challenged himself by accepting the role of Paul Rose, the leader of a terrorist cell of the radical separatist group Front de libération du Québec who was charged with the kidnapping and murder of Quebec's Minister of Labor Pierre Laporte, in "La maison du pêcheur" (2013).
