In this documentary, filmmaker Su Friedrich fuses together stock footage from vintage sex education movies, interviews with adult lesbian women and a fictional vignette about a young girl's erotic awakening. The women who appear in the movie relate stories about their earliest sexual experiences, while the dramatized portion of the film focuses on a middle-school student dealing with puberty and developing strong feelings for a close female friend.

Audience Member More linear than some of her other films, <i>Hide and Seek</i> is Su Friedrich's artful exposé on adolescent sexuality. Part drama, part documentary, all drawn from real experiences and highlighted with archaic scenes from old sex education films. Typically terrific Friedrich fare. Enlightening entertainment, or entertaining enlightenment - depending on your point of view.
