This is not what I expected it to be but after a song or two I really got into it this was actually pretty good I enjoyed it a lot I like the fact that they got Mathew Broderick in this to play the Narrator/Older Ralphie I thought the songs were catchy and really good the two I liked the most was Major Award sung by The Old Man/Frank Parker they actually gave him a name in this but not the mom lol and Ralphie to the Rescue was pretty good Ken Jeong as the Tree Salesman/Chinese Restaurant owner I was not expecting this to be a musical but I really enjoyed it. The acting, Directing, Songs and Story is great in this movie. I did love the fact that they did a dedication to the first responders that put their lives on the line to stop the Forrest fires that happened in 2017. This was something new and refreshing to see and it took a new spin on the classic movie that we all love. If You have not seen this movie then I recommend you do

While it's obvious there was effort put into this production, this wasn't an adaptation anyone was begging for. The first thing on anyone's mind when finding out about this special was 'why do you exist?' Other than Frank and a few other characters, the cast can't sing. The tone is dead and the scenes mirroring the original are lifeless and stale. It's impressive when you realize all of it was done live, but this is definitely the wrong adaptation for A Christmas Story

A christmas story is a humble little film that doesn't give you much, but the memories it makes last a lifetime. This is the polar opposite of that movie, giving you tons of "hey remember this moment" stuff that leaves no impression on you at all.
