Audience Member The Europeans have created AT13, a new stateless anti-terror unit, answerable to no one responsible to everyone. After Dutch Mercenary Van Eyck attacks a NATO weapons train and assassinates AT13's leader, a maverack soldier is brought in top bring him down and stop the assassination of a European Head of State. Fuck beans is this awful. Originally a pilot for a TV show, that fell threw and it became a direct-to-dvd feature marketed as a thinking mans action film. Well the Europeans must have a different defenition of action then us, and "thinking" must be some slang for retarded. I could bitch about boneheaded decsion made by characters or events stretchingdisbelief to the breaking point (a bomb is said to explode in 90 seconds. 5 minutes later nothing we're still waitning). Effects suck. For a thinking man's film the idea of a stateless entity with universal jurisdiction, unlimited funding and no accountability is given a free pass. Rather then deal with terrorism honestly (released in 2001, made before 9/11) its villian is a DUTCH Mercenary of no ideolgue working for criminals. Not the IRA, Communist die-hards, Neo-Nazi's/Fascists, Nationalist or Seperatists of some stripe, or I don't know al-Qaeda (I seem to recall them in the news back then) or other religious fanatics, not anyone that would require an examanation of methods or motives or any of the other issues that a discusion of terrorism entails, instead the use the blandest cop out possible. Film contains some deceint character actors (Arnold Vosloo, Michael Wincott, Michael Ironside) who all put in just enough effort to cash a check (granted the script gives them nothing to work with). Movie does have one thing in its favor. Gratuitous Nudity. Not enough to save this flick. Needless to say skip this. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
