The story follows an old man who, after a minor injury from a plant, becomes host to a parasite that emerges from his mouth as a larva and eventually grows into a giant insect, though the title "Blue Monkey" feels entirely misleading. The screenplay is poorly written, with disjointed scenes and little tension, leaving the plot confusing and unengaging. Acting is weak across the board, including from a notable actor of the time, likely hampered by the lackluster material. Direction offers no cohesion or suspense, resulting in uneven pacing and tone. Despite its premise, the film fails to deliver genuine horror, thrills, or entertainment. Confusing, poorly executed, and ultimately forgettable, Blue Monkey is a film that cannot be recommended.
