It has few human insights, and those of the most obvious kind. But it is not boring. That goes for something. Go to Full Review

The attractive but bird-brained German biopic Eight Miles High brings up the question of tone, and it never comes close to answering it. The film's tone is utterly indistinct, beyond fatuous adoration of its subject. Go to Full Review
Mark Olsen Los Angeles Times 07/25/2008

Eight Miles High, based on the memoirs of Uschi Obermaier, wants to be both a tangy piece of Eurosleaze and an overview of one woman's transformations from the heady days of the 1960s onward. Go to Full Review

Reminiscent of the Edie Sedgwick biopic “Factory Girl,” “Eight Miles High” is noteworthy only for its ability to name-drop. Go to Full Review

Refreshingly, a '60's nostalgia trip from the self-indulgent point of view of the German template for the beautiful-naked-model-bedding-chauvinist-rock-god formula. Go to Full Review
Rob Thomas Capital Times (Madison, WI) 10/07/2008

07/21/2016 An enjoyable paean to seventies European hedonism, obviously made for an audience that knows who the it-girl protagonist is, but doesn't really suffer for those who don't. Bonus points for the soundtrack. See more 11/05/2014 Certainly a fascinating true story but nothing in particular stands out to make it a great movie. See more 10/16/2013 Some appeal it may have for some audiences but for me a film that focuses on and features sex as the primary topic just ins't interesting enough. Also it was far too long. See more 08/17/2012 Have you ever dreamed of being completely free? Traveling the world, living without rules, and hooking up with anyone you wanted? See more 04/24/2012 A curious view on women's emancipation from the 60s to the 80s that leaves us questioning what has really been achieved. Tolerance can be quite as repressive as repression. The pictures of beautiful German starlet Uschi Obermaier deliver the story well, but the soundtrack could have used more original songs of the 70s.
